•The European Pact on Mental Health and Well-Being is now in its implementation phase, in which stakeholders and policy makers in each of the 5 priority areas are encouraged in action towards promoting mental health and well-being and preventing mental disorders. This process will continue through 2009 2010 and into 2011.
•The Pact is being implemented through a series of five Thematic Conferences in each of the five priority areas. These conferences are being hosted by Member States in partnership with EC bodies and other stakeholders. In at least two cases, these events are linked to European Presidencies.
• As preparation for each conference an Implementation Framework and supporting background documents will be developed by lead experts in each area, to brief participants and provide the basis for discussions at the event . Stakeholders will also have the opportunity to engage with the process by proposing examples of good practice and policies and feeding back on the proposed recommendations in the Implementation Framework.
• In addition it is hoped that stakeholders organising events linked to the five areas will capitalise on the momentum created, using these events to raise awareness of the Pact and activities underway in the implementation framework and to assist with building capacity and mobilising support for the Pact.
• The outcomes of the conferences will be disseminated widely and are expected to feed into a possible concluding event and inform a set of policy briefs, to be developed at the end of this stage in implementation.
Please find below recommendations and materials designed to facilitate dissemination of the European Pact on Mental Health and Well-being at the local level. We encourage you to raise awareness of this initiative and related events in your region, through local networks and in your field or specialisation nationally.
